National Clay Court Championships

Balcombe Grammar School congratulates Year 7 students, Zahra and Stami Arthur, who recently competed in the 2017 Australian junior national clay court championships in Canberra.

Zahra was the finalist / runner-up in the girls 12s national singles championship and was also a semi-finalist in the girls 12s national doubles championship.

Stami (with his Victorian partner and friend Brian Capalnean) won the boys 12s national doubles championship and also finished 13th in the boys 12s national singles championship.

Mum, Gina and Dad, Nick said both Stami and Zahra handled the pressure of the event very well, they were mature and respectful to their opponents and the officials. Their National Academy coaches from Melbourne Park are also very proud of them.

Stami and Zahra, train three nights a week with the Victorian junior development squad at Melbourne Park and often run in the mornings before school. Their on-going commitment and dedication to their sport is outstanding and these latest results are a reflection of all their hard work.
