2020 School Captains

13.09.2019

The first stage of the selection process to determine Balcombe Grammar School’s Student Leaders for next year was completed this week with the election of our School Captains and Vice-Captains for 2020.

We are very pleased to announce that Benjamin Craig and Mikaeli Wharton have been elected as Balcombe Grammar’s School Captains for 2020.  They will be very well-supported by Renae Potts and Jonah Wyatt who have been elected as our School Vice-Captains for 2020.

This year the process for election of our School Captains and Vice-Captains consisted of several phases.  Students completed an initial application which was followed by a first-round of online voting by staff and current Year 11 students from which a shortlist of eight candidates was determined.  These 8 students then participated in a Panel Interview with the Principal, Deputy Principal – Secondary and Head of Year 10 & 11.

From those interviews, four students were selected to present a speech at the Principal’s Assembly on Thursday this week.  All students spoke with eloquence and passion about their love of the school and their desire to make a positive difference during their final year at Balcombe Grammar School.  At the end of the speeches, all students in Year 10 & 11 voted for their preferred candidates.

Selection for the remaining student leadership positions of Year 12, Academic, Arts, Sports, Wellbeing, Sustainability and House Captains will be concluded over the coming week and announced in early Term 4.

All students who applied for our 2020 student leadership positions are to be congratulated on the quality of their submissions.
