Champion Junior Debaters

29.09.2025

After an undefeated season, with an initial field of 21 teams, our Junior Debating team progressed through two tough preliminary rounds and earned their place on stage at the SIS Debating Finals at the end of Term 3.

The side put forward a strong affirmative case in the Final to win against St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar on the topic “That the Young Australian of the Year should be elected by children”.

BGS Debating Co-ordinator, Taylah Dorling said the standard of debate was exceptional, with the adjudicator praising the well-reasoned arguments and confident delivery demonstrated across all three levels, with best speaker for the debate awarded to Renee Kim.

We congratulate our Junior Debating students on their exceptional achievement. They have given up many lunch times to ensure that they were united and prepared, often debating against one another. Their ability to implement feedback from an array of adjudicators has allowed them to level up the quality of their performances on each occasion.
