Interschool Equestrian Nationals

During the recent school holidays, the amazing team of Balcombe Equestrian riders represented BGS and rode for Victoria in the 2019 Interschool Equestrian Nationals Competition.

After driving two full days to get to the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Dakoda, Tahlia and Abbey had to pass a vet check with their horses and get them settled into the stables.  Then it was time for the opening ceremony where riders from Australia and New Zealand came together to mark the opening of the 2019 competition.

All the horses had a day to settle in and the three girls went and familiarised them with the ground and arenas for the next day.  Abbey competed in a ‘dressage to music’ competition which is called a Freestyle that she made up and put to ABBA music. It was a huge success placing Abbey and Sunny 6th.

On Monday all the girls were competing in dressage…

Abbey placed 14th and 2nd in the Intermediate Preliminary Dressage, putting her on the podium at the end of the day…

Tahlia placed a 10th and 11th in the Senior Preliminary Dressage on her young horse Golly. Tahlia has done such an amazing job with Golly teaching him everything he knows…

Dakoda Lyne and Veeza had an amazing day winning both tests in the Senior Preliminary Dressage to be crowned the National Interschool Champion in the Senior Preliminary Section. Dakoda was awarded a rug, huge sash and two first place ribbons for both tests.

On behalf of the equestrian team we would like to thank Mr Patterson for all his support and encouragement.  It is rare to get a student qualified to go to Nationals and the fact our small equestrian team had three girls qualified to go and experience Nationals together was very special.
