Life Saving State Championships

04.03.2019

Year 6 Balcombe Grammar student, Kai Gilbert recently competed at Life Saving Victoria’s Junior State Championships in Lorne. The Carnival consisted of two days of competition on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 February.

Kai was crowned State Champion for the third year in a row in the Individual Boys Surf Race, second in the Individual Boys Iron, fourth in the Individual Boys board race and received bronze in both the Boys Board Teams and Boys Wade Relay Teams for Mornington Life Saving Club.

The Carnival involved a very strenuous program with most events consisting of a heat, semi and final. Unfortunately the Aqua Cameron Relay and Boys Surf Race teams were cancelled due to the conditions on Sunday both events in which his team were strong medal prospects.

The school community congratulates Kai on his outstanding performance and on-going commitment to Surf Life Saving.
