Performing Arts Ensembles 2018

Join our Performing Arts Ensembles in 2018

Balcombe Grammar School is committed to providing students with a well-rounded education. This includes continuing to build strength in Performing Arts.

In 2018 we are delighted to provide an exciting opportunity for our young musicians to participate in our Brass Program and Specialist Vocal Ensembles.

Our brass ensemble program offers students, in Year 4 and above, the opportunity to develop an appreciation of different kinds of music and performance protocols. Through membership of an ensemble, students develop self-discipline, commitment and team spirit.

Being a member of the brass ensemble includes:

  • Free group brass lessons (trumpet, trombone and euphonium) 45 minutes, once a week
  • Free instrument hire
  • One brass ensemble lunchtime practice per week
  • Minimum commitment of one year participation and 20 minutes practice per night
  • Public performance (once per term)
  • Weekly masterclass with Mornington Youth and Citizens Band, 7pm – 8pm (from Term 2 onwards)

Places are limited to 15 – 16 students and positions will be filled as applications are received.

This is an exciting opportunity for students, in Year 5 and above, to excel in vocal performance. Our vocal ensembles will represent Balcombe Grammar in a variety of performances throughout the school year.

Students can choose from the following specialist vocal ensembles:

  • Jazz Vocal Ensemble
  • Contemporary Vocal Ensemble
  • Classical Vocal Ensemble
  • Boys’ Vocal Ensemble
  • Pop Band

In addition to participating in a vocal ensemble, students are also required to become a member of the Senior Choir and / or Audtioned Choir.
