Sailing Success at the National Championships

06.02.2025

Over the recent school holidays, Year 10 Balcombe Grammar students, Henri and Miles won the 2025 29er Australian Championship Junior Division at the Nationals in Queensland.

Overall, Henri and Miles placed sixth in the open division, which is amazing given they were the youngest competitors, sailing against those who were much older and more experienced.

As a result of their performance, Australian Sailing have offered Henri and Miles a spot in the 2025 Youth Squad to be led by Jim Colley-OLY (49er Paris Olympics 2024) who will support their development in preparation for the World Championships this year in Portugal.

Both their achievement and place in the Australian Sailing  Youth Squad has required a great deal of hard work, a lot of training, many interstate competitions, and guidance from great coaches and mentors including Tess Lloyd-OLY (49FX Tokyo Olympics 2020).

The Balcombe Grammar School community are extremely proud of Henri and Miles outstanding performance and commitment to their sport. We wish them all the best in their upcoming events.
