VCE Results 2024

13.12.2024

We extend our congratulations to the Class of 2024 following the release of their results. As previously noted, we have particularly appreciated the leadership and positive community spirit this cohort showed in their final year.

Exactly 100 Balcombe Grammar students received ATARs, in our largest Year 12 cohort. The median ATAR was over 70, placing 52 students in the top 30% of the state.

We are delighted to commend the following students:

  • Our Dux was Nathan Craig, who achieved the wonderful ATAR of 98.3. He achieved our highest score in each of Biology, Mathematical Methods, and Specialist Mathematics.
  • Our Proxime Accessit was Louis Carter, who achieved an ATAR of 97.2. Louis achieved our highest score in English and Legal Studies.

  • We congratulate a further 5 students who achieved an ATAR of more than 90, placing them in the top 10% of the state:
    – Jaz Akehurst (who achieved our highest score in French and Visual Communication Design, with a wonderful score of 47 in VCD)
    – Klara Johnson (who achieved our highest score in Physical Education)
    – Emily Cooke (who achieved our highest score in Health and Human Development)
    – Will Giddings (who achieved our highest score in Physics)
    – Sam McCullough (who achieved our highest score in Accounting)
  • We congratulate Thaila Hartley-Jackson (Year 11) for gaining a (“perfect”) study score of 50 in Outdoor and Environmental Studies. This score was also a delight for her teacher, Mrs Sharon Rogers.
  • Celeste Mezey (Year 11) deserves our congratulations for her study score of 49 in Hungarian.
  • Charli Runge (Year 11) is also congratulated for her score of 47 in Psychology.
  • Notably, four students received the additional award of the ‘VCE Baccalaureate’ – given to students who complete a Year 12 Language, a Year 12 Higher Level Mathematics course, and who perform well in their English subject. These four students were: Holli Dalton, Talia Hipworth, our 2024 School Captain Harrison Rollo, and Millie Watson Biggar.

However, it would be a betrayal of our values, to limit our congratulations to the simple measure of numbers relating to academic performance. We congratulate all of our Year 12 students who demonstrated leadership, kindness and teamwork. Collectively, they contributed enormously to this community. A number of students had to manage a variety of pressures and overcome a range of obstacles to successfully complete Year 12 – and we commend their courage and perseverance.

We also thank our School team, and teachers in particular, who have contributed to the educational journey of this cohort since 2012, and we acknowledge our wonderful parent community for their support of these students and our School as a whole.

We are excited for our Year 12 graduates as they look forward to a range of adventures in the years ahead. We wish them well!
