Academic Advancement Program (AAP)

Balcombe Grammar School understands that one of the greatest challenges that today’s secondary students face is balancing their different interests and commitments. We firmly believe that students who have a healthy balance between school-work and extra-curricular activities are most likely to achieve success, both at school, and in subsequent tertiary study and employment.

We also recognise that for many of today’s young people, achieving this balance can prove elusive.

Our Academic Advancement team work with students in Years 7-12 to foster and develop key study skills and content knowledge that will empower them to become self-directed learners who understand how to manage their time effectively, enabling them to achieve optimal success in their academic studies.

Our Senior Years program, which is available Monday to Thursday 3:30 – 5pm, offer a range of skills-based and subject-based sessions to support our students in Years 10-12, consisting of:

  • Consolidation subject lectures
  • Guest speakers, including past student alumini
  • Small group workshops, as well as 1:1 tutorials

Our dedicated middle years teachers currently provide support in the areas of English and Mathematics.  These sessions allow our students to consolidate on any learning that has happened in the classroom, seek clarification for upcoming assessments as well as extension opportunities.  These sessions occur Monday to Thursday 7:30 – 8:30am.
