Balcombe Grammar debut at the Victorian Snowsport Championships in style

04.09.2023

Thirteen Balcombe Grammar students recently competed at the Victorian Interschools Snowsport Championships, held at Mount Buller from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 August.

The week commenced with our junior team competing in two events: skier cross and giant slalom, where the team had lots of fun despite the blizzard-like conditions. On the Monday night, the junior team proudly carried the Balcombe Grammar sign through the parade and enjoyed sharing the experience with many other snow loving families from all over Victoria.

Our senior team competed from Wednesday to Sunday and the athletes all did an amazing effort getting out of the gates and down the course in good times. A special mention needs to be made to Year 9 student, Chilli Stanton, who came away with a silver medal in the snowboard cross and a gold medal in the snowboard giant slalom.

Parent, Brooke Hallett said “some highlights of the week were not just in the racing, but also seeing a wonderful team spirit… especially on the Wednesday night when the junior and senior team had dinner together”.

We thank our community, including our staff, parents and students for their dedication and time in helping the first ever Balcombe Grammar Snowsport Team become a reality.
